Privacy notice for the Community Award vote
What we store
For every vote cast we store the project chosen, the time of the vote, a cryptographic hash of your IP address, your browser identification (user agent) and a random value that is kept as a cookie in your browser.
What we do not store
We do not store IP addresses in clear text. Your IP address is combined with a secret key into a hash that cannot be reversed; the address itself is never written to disk. We therefore cannot link a vote to a person. There is no registration: we ask for neither your name nor your email address, and we use no analytics or tracking services.
Purpose and legal basis
The data is processed solely to run the vote and to detect multiple and automated voting. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a vote free of manipulation, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
Cookie
We set one technically necessary cookie (xrc_ballot) with a lifetime
of one year. It holds nothing but a random value telling us that this browser has
already voted. It serves no analytical purpose.
Retention
The voting data is deleted no later than three months after the result is announced. For the record we keep only the number of votes per project, without any technical attributes.
Hosting
This application runs on the web hosting of ALL-INKL.COM — Neue Medien Münnich, Friedrichroda, Germany. A data processing agreement is in place.
Controller and your rights
Controller is nextReality.Hamburg e.V. Contact details are given in the imprint. You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and to object, as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The general privacy policy of the nextReality.Contest is available here.
Terms of participation
Taking part
The Community Award vote is public and free of charge. No registration is required.
One vote per person
Every person has one vote. Once cast, a vote can neither be changed nor withdrawn.
Removal of votes
nextReality.Hamburg e.V. reserves the right to remove votes where there are well-founded indications of manipulation — in particular automated voting, conspicuous clusters of votes from the same network, or recognisable attempts to circumvent the technical safeguards. The assessment rests with the organiser. Legal recourse is excluded.
Voting period
The vote runs until October 8, 2026. After that no vote can be cast.
Result
The result is announced at the nextReality.Festival. Interim results are not published while the vote is running.
